3 Health Benefits of Carpet Cleaning Regularly

Heath Benefits of Carpet Cleaning Regularly

ST. LOUIS, MO: (Amants) Properly maintaining carpets and keeping them safe from stains and wear and tear can be a hard task. Carpets make up the floors on which we walk, live, and sit every single day. They line our homes and apartments, keeping them insulated and homey feeling for even the coldest of climates.

It can be quite the undertaking to keep carpets thoroughly clean and immune to dust and germs. The average household has no idea that the American Lung Association recommends vacuuming at least three times per week in every American household to prevent allergens and dust mites from causing lung deterioration.

There are a multitude of health benefits that come from cleaning the carpet regularly, but we’re going to break down the top 3 benefits below.

1. Eliminates trapped allergens & pollutants

Dirty carpets retain sources of indoor pollutants to the air, and can accumulate millions in a single day. The Environmental Protection Agency reported that carpets can carry particle pollutants, lead, cockroach, allergens, dust, dirt, and pet dander. Additionally, toxic airborne gases can take root in carpets, and pose serious health threats for individuals living in that home.

Professional carpet cleaning services and high-powered vacuuming frequently can help rid carpets of deeply trapped pollutants. The key here is doing it regularly so allergens and toxins don’t have the time to deep-root themselves to the point of no return.

2. Improves air quality

Home carpets are directly linked to the air quality of a living space. Contaminants that penetrate deep into the carpet make breathing difficult for many individuals. These trapped toxins are then regularly released from the carpet into the air, irritating lungs and skin every day. Those who suffer from asthma and allergies, especially, need to have the carpets professionally deep cleaned to prevent this kind of irreversible irritation to their fragile respiratory systems.

The risk of allergen-induced attacks is severely reduced by improved indoor air quality. Most dangerously allergic individuals elect to have homes with no carpets at all, but it is possible to coexist with a carpet that is professionally and thoroughly cleaned monthly.

3. Dust mite mitigation

Since dust mites are microscopic, most individuals are not aware if they have a dust mite infestation. Even more are unaware that it is not the dust mites themselves that cause the allergens, but the actual body fragments and feces left behind. When dust mites take root in a carpet, they shed millions of fragments into every niche of the carpet. The microscopic particles are then inhaled by the individuals living there, and the infested area remains unseen and undetected. Inhaling these particles is not healthy for any pair of lungs.

Steam cleaning, typically done by professionals, exposes dust mites to high temperatures that they cannot survive. The result is the official eradication of them from any carpet. Though it is worth noting, no solution is permanent, which is why regular carpet cleaning will always keep the dust mites at bay.

Say no to infested carpets and poor lung health. Have your carpets cleaned regularly, and your long-term health and happiness will thank you.

Tips for Maintaining, Cleaning, and Protecting Your Stone

Amant’s Floor Care – Tips for Maintaining, Cleaning & Protecting Your Stone

Critical Care Tips for Stone

Maintenance:

The three most important tasks that can be done on a daily basis to keep your stone looking new and extending the time before restoration is required: dust mop, dust mop & dust mop.  The most destructive material to stone is dust, dirt, sand, small gravel and miscellaneous grit.  This can be performed by using a non-treated dry dust mop or a vacuum with NO wheels and a soft bristle floor attachment.

Cleaning:

ONLY use moisture when needed (example; spills, wet feet or muddy paws).  If needed, must use neutral based cleaner or plain water.  Never use an acid based cleaner, except vinegar or etching can occur.

Protecting:

All stone should have a penetrating sealer applied annually.  This helps keep the stone and its grout from staining so quickly.

DO’S & DON’Ts

We strongly recommend that you follow these Do’s and Don’ts:

Do’s

  • Do dust mop floor frequently.
  • Do clean surfaces with a neutral detergent or stone soap.
  • Do thoroughly rinse and dry the surface with clean, clear water after washing.
  • Do blot up spills immediately.
  • Do protect floor surfaces with non-slip mats or area rugs and countertop surfaces with coasters, trivets or placements.

Don’ts

  • Don’t use vinegar, lemon juice or other cleaners containing acids on marble, limestone, travertine or onyx surfaces.
  • Don’t use cleaners that contain acid such as bathroom cleaners, grout cleaners or tub and tile cleaners.
  • Don’t mix bleach and ammonia; this combination creates a toxic and lethal gas.
  • Don’t ever mix chemicals together unless directions specifically instruct you to do so.
  • Don’t use vacuum cleaners that are worn.  The metal or plastic attachments or the wheels may scratch the stone’s surface.
